About Richmond Toastmasters

Mission of the Club
The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
The Richmond Toastmasters Club of Richmond, VA is one of thousands of not-for-profit Toastmasters International clubs worldwide dedicated to helping members help themselves improve their public speaking, listening and leadership skills.

In keeping with the concept of a "Club," Toastmasters is not a course of study but an opportunity for members to self-pace and focus on those goals which are of importance to them. Every meeting each member will have at least one opportunity to voluntarily speak in public - that public being the club membership.

These speaking opportunities vary from short prepared speeches to impromptu speaking to emceeing to just introducing yourself, all in a very supportive environment.

In short, we make a difference in your leadership and communication skills!

Toastmasters offers many benefits, including opportunities to:

Practice and learn in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who, like you, want to become better communicators.

Richmond Toastmasters is part of Area 6, which consists of five clubs in the West End of Richmond. Area 6 is one of five areas in Central Division, comprising all of the Richmond, Tri-Cities, Peninsula (Hampton, Newport News), and Williamsburg regions. Central Division is part of District 66, comprising about 85 clubs in Virginia other than Washington and Fredericksburg areas and the extreme western tip of the state.
